    Nu Boyana Film Studios

Nu Boyana Film Studios is one of the largest film production studios in Europe, set on 30 hectares at 84 Kumata Street in Sofia's Boyana neighborhood, at the foot of Vitosha Mountain. The complex traces its origins to 1962, when it opened as the state-run Boyana Film Studios — the beating heart of Bulgarian cinema throughout the communist era — before being bought in 2005 by Hollywood's Nu Image and Millennium Films. Today it features more than ten sound stages, a large water tank, and an impressive collection of standing sets, including replicas of New York and London streets, a Middle Eastern market, St Paul's Cathedral, and a full ancient Roman set with a colosseum. Post-production is handled on-site by Worldwide FX, one of Europe's leading visual effects companies. Over the years the studios have serviced more than 280 feature films, including titles like The Expendables, 300: Rise of an Empire, London Has Fallen, The Hitman's Bodyguard, The Black Dahlia, and Conan. While the site is primarily a working film studio, guided tours are available by arrangement, walking visitors through the main standing sets — a rare chance to see the scale of international filmmaking up close.
