Boyana Church
Boyana Church is one of Bulgaria’s most valuable medieval monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located at the foot of Vitosha Mountain in Sofia, the church dates back to the 10th–13th centuries and is famous for its exceptionally well-preserved frescoes from 1259. These wall paintings are considered masterpieces of medieval European art for their realism, emotional depth, and artistic innovation. Boyana Church is a key symbol of Bulgaria’s cultural and artistic heritage.
