    Island Ambelits

Island Ambelits (also known as Embelets, Emberli, or Nose Ambelits) is a small rocky island and peninsula located directly off the northern end of the Central Beach of the village of Lozenets, in Tsarevo Municipality, Burgas Region, on the Southern Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The name derives from the Greek word αμπέλι (ampeli), meaning "grapevine" or "vineyard" — a reference to the vineyards that once covered the surrounding area before the village was established. The island gives its name to the historic locality: until 1931 the settlement now known as Lozenets was called Embelets (also Emberler or Ambelits), part of the town of Vasiliko (today Tsarevo), and it was by decree of 1931 that the locality was officially renamed Lozenets — the Bulgarian equivalent of the Greek toponym. The island and its immediate surroundings are today organised as a small public park, and the Ambelits Hotel complex is built on the highest part of the peninsula, surrounded by sea on three sides, offering panoramic views of the Lozenets Bay. The rocky cape and its waters are popular with local fishermen and with visitors who enjoy exploring the rocky shoreline. The island/peninsula forms one of the most photographed natural landmarks in Lozenets, visible from the Central Beach and from the village square.
