“House with the Monkey”
“House with the Monkey” in Veliko Tarnovo is one of the city’s most distinctive Revival-era buildings, designed by the renowned master builder Kolyu Ficheto. Its name comes from the small sculpted monkey figure placed above the entrance — a unique decorative element that makes the house instantly recognizable. Built in the mid-19th century, the building showcases characteristic architectural details such as stone masonry, wooden ornaments, and harmoniously balanced proportions. Today, it stands as a remarkable example of Revival architecture and a beloved landmark in the old town.
