    Sofia History Museum

The permanent exhibition of the Museum of the History of Sofia opened in 2015. It is displayed across eight halls with a total area of 2,300 sq. m. The exhibition includes artifacts spanning more than eight thousand years — from the Neolithic period to the 1940s. They are organized into thematic sections: “The Heritage of Antiquity,” “The Power of the Spirit,” “The Dynastic Connection with Europe,” “The Sofia Street,” “The Palace Office,” “State and Municipal Institutions,” “The Home and Clothing of Sofia’s Residents,” and “Cultural Life and Entertainment.” The focus is placed on some of the most significant moments in the city’s history — its selection as Bulgaria’s capital in 1879 and the decades leading up to the wars of 1912–1918.
