Municipality Hall Ruse
The Ruse Municipality building is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks on Freedom Square, completed in 1985 and originally built as a Communist Party House. Designed by architect Alexander Barov, the building is a notable example of late-socialist modernism, with its distinctive stone cladding and rhythmic façade elements—so characteristic that locals often nickname it “the Ship.” Today it serves as the administrative heart of the city and a key urban backdrop for public events and civic gatherings, linking Ruse’s contemporary identity with an important chapter of its 20th-century history.
