Central Square (Plosh­tad “Centralen”) is the main civic space in the heart of Plovdiv, where the city’s everyday rhythm meets some of its oldest layers of history. The square is built above the remains of the Ancient Forum of Philippopolis—the administrative, commercial and public center of Roman Plovdiv—and sits next to landmarks such as the Central Post Office, with the Ancient Odeon nearby. Today it functions as a major meeting point for events, walks and city celebrations, combining open urban space with the feeling that history is literally under your feet.
