Museum "Ilio Voivoda"

The Iliyo Voyvoda House-Museum in Kyustendil is dedicated to the life and legacy of Iliyo Markov, known as Iliyo Voyvoda—one of the most prominent Bulgarian revolutionaries and protectors of the local population during the 19th century. The museum is housed in his preserved home, featuring authentic architecture, traditional interiors, personal belongings, weapons, documents, and exhibits that illustrate his heroic role in the struggle for freedom. Visitors can explore the atmosphere of a Revival-era household while learning about the historical events and ideals that shaped his life. As an important cultural and memorial site, the Iliyo Voyvoda House-Museum honors one of Kyustendil’s true national heroes.
